Our Doctors

Spencer Anderson, DVM

Dr. Spencer Anderson is a Montana native and a graduate of Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine. After earning his degree, he served three years in the U.S. Army caring for military working dogs, including a deployment to Iraq. He returned to Bozeman in 2007 and opened Baxter Creek Veterinary Clinic in November 2010. Being part of the Bozeman community is one of the things he loves most about his work.

Palmer Poutre, DVM

Dr. Palmer Poutre grew up in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and made the move to Bozeman in 2004. She first joined Baxter Creek as a technician in 2010 while working on her undergraduate degree, earning a B.S. in Equine Science from Montana State University in 2011. She went on to attend St. George's University for veterinary school, completing her clinical training at Auburn University's College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Poutre is delighted to be back in Montana — and back at Baxter Creek. Outside the clinic, she's usually outside with her dogs or spending time with horses, which she loves dearly.

Jessica Bienapfl, DVM

Dr. Jessica Bienapfl earned her Bachelor's Degree in Biology from Montana State University in 2002 and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Minnesota in 2008. Her clinical interests include internal medicine, soft tissue surgery, and — most especially — acupuncture, for which she received her Veterinary Acupuncture Certification from the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society (IVAS) in 2009. At home, Dr. Bienapfl and her husband share their lives with a lively Lab named Elsie and two cats, Haast and Penny. In her free time, you'll find her gardening, skiing, hiking, camping, or mountain biking.

John Ellington, DVM

Dr. John Ellington was born in Georgia and grew up in the Carolinas. He moved to Bozeman in December 2023, following the lead of his best friends and veterinary school classmates who had made the same move years earlier. He received his B.S. in Biological Sciences from Clemson University in 2015 and earned his doctorate in veterinary medicine from the University of Georgia in 2020. Soft tissue surgery and getting to know clients and their pets are his favorite parts of practice. Outside the clinic, Dr. Ellington enjoys fly fishing, snow skiing, and cuddling with his Beagle, Milly.
